History
Resurrection House is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which was founded in 1989 to offer blankets and food to those living under the bridges. In 1990, remodeling of our current dorm began at 125 N. 9th St., in Chickasha, OK. The shelter started taking in residents in March of 1991. Kent Hibbard and family were hired in October of 1991 to operate the shelter. The organization has continued to provide emergency shelter and has developed additional assistance programs. These comprehensive services are offered to families and individuals living in poverty and adversely affected by the housing crisis currently experienced throughout the country. Volunteers are a vital part of the history and day-to-day mission and hospitality of Resurrection House.
We acquired the former Jane Brooks School located at 701 Colorado Ave, in Chickasha to be renovated into what now is Life Skills Institute. as of May 2016, it is now in operation as a program of Resurrection House.
